Plastic இல்லா Tamil Nadu

The video is about banning the usage of plastic products in tamilnadu from January 1, 2019, announced by the Chief minister Edappadi Palani swami in the Assembly. Which primarily include plastic carry bags, plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic flags, small plastic sachets etc.., However, a few plastic materials used for packing milk, curd, oil and medicine have been exempted from the ban.
This is not the first attempt of banning plastic, it was already made by Ex chief minister Dr. J. Jayalalitha on May 7,2002 which was withdrawn without any transparent reason by her on Jan 1,2003.
Before getting in to it let us know about the nativity of plastics.
The growth of plastics has progressed from the use of natural plastic materials (e.g., rubber ,chewing gum, shellac) to the use of synthetic molecules (e.g., bakelite, epoxy, polyvinyl chloride). In around 1600 BC, Mesoamericans used natural rubber for balls, bands, and figurines. Treated cattle horns were used as windows for lanterns in the Middle Ages.
The world's first fully synthetic plastic was bakelite, invented in New York in 1907 by Leo Hendrik Baekeland who coined the term 'plastics'
Due to their low cost, ease of manufacture, versatility, and imperviousness to water, plastics are used in a multitude of products of different scale, including paper clips and spacecraft which are some of the attractive qualities of plastics that led us to use through day today life. They have prevailed over traditional materials, such as wood, stone, horn and bone, leather, metal, glass, and ceramic, in some products previously left to natural materials.

On-the-go lifestyles require easily disposable products, such as soda cans or bottles of water, but the accumulation of these products has led to increasing amounts of plastic pollution around the world.
but simply, plastic pollution is when plastic has gathered in an area and has begun to negatively impact the natural environment and create problems for plants, wildlife and even human population. Often this includes killing plant life and posing dangers to local animals. Over 1 million marine animals are killed each year affecting at least 700 marine specious
Nearly 300 million tons of plastics are produced each year. More than 8 million tons of plastics are dumped in to our oceans every year where 40% of total plastic usage are used in packaging. Over last 10 years the usage of plastics is more than the last century.

people are meant to drink lots of water each day, which increased the plastic bottle wastes, go get rid of bottles and use reusable water bottles as a substitute, reducing plastic waste which is on live by many companies.
Speak to local restaurants and businesses about options that they can switch to bamboo utensils in place of plastic ones. And also educated your family and friends to use banana leaves for serving foods instead using plastic paper.
Next time you go for a shopping, don’t forget to carry a paper or cloth bag.

Go Green, NO Plastic, Everything is Fantastic.
